Joss Stone
Something Sally
Thu, 08. Nov 2007, 8 PM | Introducing Nu Soul
Hardly a day passes without some new singing hopeful being catapulted into pop-stardom by a casting show. These young stars tend to fade from the scene just as quickly as they came. Not Joss Stone. At the tender age of 14, she won the BBC contest “Star for a Night”. The contest was followed by performances at charity events where she was discovered by producer Steve Greenberg, who got her even more excited about singing soul classics. When Greenberg heard her singing them, he was completely amazed: “Joss had not only a great voice but also the ability to put her own original stamp on classic material… with passion and feeling.“ One could not find a better description of how the lady with the golden mane sings her own hits, which have themselves already become classics.
The opening act was Something Sally from Oslo in Norway.
