Angela Brown was celebrated profusely by the press as the «Bessie Smith of the 80s». Jeanne Carrol was once the youngest member of the Chicago Metropolitan Opera Guild. What was expected of the two singers, their band helped to deliver: Erwin Helfer on the piano, Eddie Calhoun, long-time accompanist of Eroll Garner on the bass and Robert Covington, who had already played for Muddy Waters, on the drums.
