The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra

The Gerry Mulligan Quartet

mer, 27. ott 1993, 8 | Big Band & Cool Jazz
Festsaal Messe Basel Door opening: 6.30 pm

In jazz, the talk is often of legends, also on this concert evening. Gerry Mulligan was one of the last living great masters of swing and cool jazz. Mulligan had been a professional musician for over 40 years and had first reached fame with his piano-less quartet in 1952. His years in Dave Brubeck’s band or his concerts at the White House were further milestones in his career. Jazz fans appreciated his continual evolvement. No less of a pleasure was the Tommy Dorsey Big Band with a more sensual and smoother sound than Mulligan’s.
