«New Jazz» had a considerable following in Basel and its fans all made the pilgrimage to Willisau in Lucerne, the mecca for whatever was new in jazz. In 1992, we turned the tables and let Willisau festival organizer Niklaus Troxler put together an evening in Basel. He presented «Wayne Horvitz - The President», a gifted composer and pianist with his sextet whose strength is combining sound waves with rhythms that you feel deep inside.
